Dawn's Lament

Hey, it's more vampire nonsense.

Oh, fiery Sun, both beautiful and terrible

Do not direct Your wrath on me--Lord I tremble.

Dress Yourself in concealing clouds and wreaths of mist.

Turn Your face from me and bless me not with Your Kiss,

For I am not worthy of Your gracious notice.

To escape Your wide eyes I eat of the Lotus.

The bliss of bittersweet oblivion it brings,

The great power on Earth behind Princes and Kings.

Your chosen children bask in the warmth of Your love,

But I cower from You, afraid of my own death in Your arms.

But an all consuming fire burns my soul from above.

There I hide choosing immortality through painful charms.

The shadow of Tithonus fills me with elation.

The light of Your purity is an abomination .

Each moment weighs on me as the gift becomes a torment.

The days are like centuries and my life is a weariness.

The only relief is in the death I have scorned.

Ages pass away and new empires fall. I alone feel the dreariness.

The Sun rises and I embrace the Dawn.

Your arms hold me as I see my death in Your eyes.

The quiet of death before me yawns.

On the wind blows the Breath of Life, with sighs.

It's another poem, friends. People still like vampires, right? I have a secret buried deep within a jeweled cup A secret deep and dark...
